Plakias is a place that offers a variety of activities, whether you are a mountain or a sea lover. In case you are a mountain lover, you have the opportunity to walk on the beautiful mountains, in the canyons with the crystal rivers and enjoy the flora and fauna of the place. If you are a sea lover, in Plakias you will find a multitude of water sports and diving centers that will take you on a journey through the wonderfully clear waters of Southern Crete. Other activities you will find in Plakias are horse riding and cycling. You can also take short boat trips to nearby beaches or organized bus tours to the sights and archaeological sites.
Food & Drink
Plakias offers a wide variety of restaurants and family taverns that will take you on a journey through the Mediterranean and authentic Cretan flavors. Staka, hochlioi, kalitsunia, apaki, dakos, marathopita, Sfaciani pita and of course the well-known raki are just some of the traditional and delicious foods and drinks that you must try. You will also find cafes, tourist shops and bars to enjoy your drink in the evening.
Horse riding
At the Plakias Horse Riding Center you can ride horses, ponies or donkeys next to the beautiful beaches of Plakias. It is not necessary to be experienced, as the group offers lessons even for beginners. All lessons are individual, and riders have the sole attention of their instructors. For the guests of the group, horse riding excursions are organized to the amazing beaches of Plakias, Damnoni and Ammoudi with the accompaniment of experienced guides.
Boat Trips
Plakias is the perfect place to discover the coasts of Southern Crete as daily boats depart from its port to various nearby and wonderful beaches such as Damnoni, Preveli, Triopetra, Agios Pavlos, Fragokastello, etc. In Plakias you can also go on a fishing trip or a private boat trip.
Diving
In Plakias there are diving centers where you can take diving lessons and see the bottom of Plakias beach and other beaches, as some of these centers also have boats going to distant beaches. Explore one of the most interesting embossed bottoms of the Mediterranean, but also the rich life of the crystal clear sea of Plakias.
